CAP CANA, Dominican Republic (PRNewswire).- Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism has pledged to be one of the numerous sponsors of the Cap Cana Championship, an official PGA TOUR Champions Tour event held on the glamorous East Coast of the Caribbean's second largest island.

Punta Espada Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus signature design located in Cap Cana, will host the 2010 tournament and is one of many DR golf courses receiving awards for unmatched beauty and design.

"The prestigious Cap Cana Championship provides breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and lush green vistas of the Punta Espada Golf Club," said Tourism minister of Francisco Javier Garcia. "The Dominican Republic is heaven on earth for golf with 25 championship courses earning top honors for their magnificent design amid azure seas, white-sand beaches and world-class resorts. More than 86 million world-wide viewers will be treated to the tournament airing on the Golf Channel."

"The Cap Cana Championship at Punta Espada underscores the Dominican Republic's solid stature as the top golf destination in the Caribbean and Latin America," said Dr. Ricardo Hazoury, President of Cap Cana's Board of Directors.
