MAYAGÜEZ, Dominican Republic.- Dominican Republic flaunted its baseball and boxing might on Wednesday and went past Puerto Rico in the medals board, in the 7th day of the XXI Central American and Caribbean Games.
The Dominicans beat Mexico 3 to 2 and won seven medals yesterday, including two gold and returned to fourth place in the medals standing.
The baseball team title and Gabriel Mercedes’ in boxing paced the locals’ thrust in a day which where they also secured two opportunities for gold whereas the tennis player Victor Estrella heads to the semifinals.
It’s the third gold for the Dominican baseball team in the history of the Games, after Kingston in 1962 and Havana in 1982.

Here is a great idea how about sending this exact same team to the World Baseball Classic instead of the MLB All-star team that has become useless when needed.
