Cabarete.– Cabarete will host the Butterfly Effect in its second year, an event whose mission is promoting women in water sports, instilling self-confidence and empowerment in women of all skill sets, raising ocean awareness, fundraising for local charites, and inspiring a healthy lifestyle.
The Butterfly Effect began in Hawaii in 2007 by water women
Tatiana Howard and Juliana Shelef. They
have flown to organize the event in Brazil, New Zealand, France, Oregon,
Germany, Tahiti, Dominican Republic and Australia for group surf
sessions and clinics.
On August 7th, 2010 Dominican Republic will present its 2nd Annual Amber Dune Butterfly Effect Cabarete. The following are the details of the event:
Friday August 6th – 7pm Registration & Opening Ceremony at Onno’s
Saturday August 7th
11:00 Meet at Nikki Beach Cabarete, receive garbage bags/ gloves for beach clean up
11:30 – 12:15 Beach Cleanup
12:15 – 12:45 Photos, Stretching & Snacks/Juice
12:45 – 1:15 – Set up Gear (Windsurf, Kitesurf, SUP, Kayak) in front of CNS for launch
Take off for downwinder
1:30 - 2:00 Leave for Encuentro
2:30 – 3:30 Arrival at Encuentro
2:30 – 4:30 Drinks&Snacks + de-rig gear + load trucks
3:30 – 6:00 Head back to Cabarete.
There will be 2 major drop off points – Those wanting to return to Kite Beach will be dropped off at Agualina. Anyone going back to Cabarete Bay will be dropped off in Front of Scotia Bank.
8:00 pm – Nikki Beach for raffle, silent auction, dinner, dancing.
