TUXTLA GUTIERREZ, Mexico.–  Dominican Republic defeated Mexico 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-8 ) to secure the second place and play the semifinals against Argentina, that finished third.

Mexico had a few good moments with some of its young players like Seomara Sainz, but the dominican Dahiana Burgos finished as the top scorer with 12 points for the dominicans, while Candida Arias finished with 9. For Mexico, Grecia Rivera, recorded 9 tallies and Valeria Fernandez 6.

“I am sure it could be better”, said mexican captain Yazmin Hernandez. “We began with a strong game, played very tough but we decreased our level”.

For the host team head coach, Alfredo Bernal, this was another learning experience. “We have faced much better teams than us in this tournament our level is not as high as theirs, we only have to play and learn a lot from these teams and try to do the right adjustements”,  he said.

Karla Echenique, the Dominican captain stated: “We did not started as good as we wanted, we had a few problems, but we improved in the third set”.
