Santo Domingo.- Major League Baseball struck another hard blow to Dominican Republic’s Winter Baseball League by releasing a list of 75 players who cannot participate in the season for having suffered “Extreme Fatigue” or injuries.

The capital’s Tigres del Licey is the most jeopardized team by the ban with 17, followed by their city rivals Leones with 15.

Santiago’s Aguilas del Cibao has 14; La Romana’s Toros del Este 10; San Francisco’s Gigantes del Cibao 10; and San Pedro’s Estrellas Orientales 9.

The bans would take away some of the sparkle from the country’s Winter Baseball season, and comes months after MLB issued a scathing report slamming the local system to recruit and sign prospects.

I agree .....this has been a missed opportunity to market winter ball to tourists and increase the profit structure ......It should be like attending Bull Fights in Spain a must when visiting the DR in the winter season

Las Aguilas son Las Aguilas. It's disapoiting that so many MLBers won't be able to participate. Hopefully we get to see the top prospects from these teams and some new faces from MLB then. If I have to see Julian Tavares give up homer after homer................

The DT spam system probably works the same as spam systems on other sites. If enough people click the report button the spam automatically gets deleted. It only takes a second, report the spam.

I'm a baseball tourist. I love winter ball. It is so refreshing after US corporate baseball. The stadiums are easier to get around in. I can smoke cigars and have a little toot of rum as well.
Baseball should be encouraged to all visitors from abroad.
And my wife loves the games as well - all those handsome ball players I suppose have something to do with the it too. And we have met and been befriended by some very nice people too.
I don't know why US MLB can stick their noses into DR Winter Ball but then what do I know.
Go Licey!

Chicago...The John Hancock Center announcing today they'll be installing an ice rink on their 94th floor observatory deck early next year.
That's more than 1,ooo feet in the air, making it the world's highest ice skating rink according to management.
The 1,000 square foot rink will take 8-12 hours to install and will be made of synthetic ice. It will be open from January through March of next year, but you can get a first look this morning at 10:30 a.m.!
Cinderella and Prince Charming from the touring"Disney on Ice presents Princess Classics" will be performing on a similar rink.
See the concierge on the 94th floor for tickets.
