Santo Domingo.- Current major League star Jose Batista, Placido Polanco, Ubaldo Jiménez, Octavio Dotel, Ricky Romero, Hanley Ramirez, and the retired Tim Wakefield, Jim Rice, Bernie Williams, Andres Galárraga, Pedro Martinez, among others, will participated in the David Ortiz 4th Celebrities Golf Classic.
The Boston Red Sox slugger thanked the sponsors and colleagues for the three previous successful tournaments. “I extend an invitation to those who want to make the difference in the life of a child, to accompany us in these four phenomenal days.”
Big Papi said the Classic’s three previous years raised more than 650,000 dollars, to help thousands of children access much needed care to save their lives in Dominican Republic and in the area of New England.
Ortiz said many celebrities have confirmed their participation, including NBA players Francisco Garcia, Tito Horfold and Charlie Villanueva, as well as Tyreke Evans, of the Sacrament Kings, Ray Allen, of the Boston Celtics and the league’s most valuable player, Derrick Rose, of the Chicago Bulls. “We want to raise the biggest amount of funds possible to be able to help the childhood who are my weakness.”
