PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic. - Speed and adrenalin flowed in Punta Cana International Airport’s new race track, where the first speed fest attracted 25 of the fastest and most exotic autos of the category “Supercar.”

Racers from Miami and Puerto Rico competed with the locals, such as Jorge Unanue in his 600 horsepower GTR R35, who set the track record at 294 km/h in a one mile span.

The Group Puntacana and Punta Cana International Airport sponsored the event, together with Brugal & Cia.y Air Transat Cargo, among others.

If this is the track I think it is....not a chance in hell of a car doing 294....maybe 94....but not 294.. I think what this was , was simply a promo to open the new runway at the airport.

One mile standing start runs. been doing that in the states for years.

182.683 MPH isn't bad but nothing to right home about. Know a gut in Palm Beach who has a twin Turbo Ford GT which turned 254 MPH in the standing mile.
