Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez on Tuesday congratulated Santo Domingo’s Leones on their Winter Baseball crown 2011 - 2012, won with a thrills-packed game in Quisqueya Stadium on Monday.

“In the name of the Dominican people and my own, it pleases me to extend my most effusive congratulations for the victory of the Leones del Escogido team, to mark the 2011-2012 autumn-winter baseball season, crowned champions of Dominican baseball,” the chief executive said.

“I am confident the Leones will represent us with the same gallantry in the next Caribbean Series which begins Thursday in the Dominican Republic,” Fernandez adds in the letter to Leones president Luis Manuel Bonetti.
