Santo Domingo. - Left-hander Francisco Liriano managed to regain his control to lead Dominican Republic to a 2 to 0 win over Mexico Sunday night, and one win away from the Caribbean Baseball Series championship.

Liriano walked four in the first two innings, but Mexico’s offensive didn’t take advantage of his lack of control and connected only four hits in five innings, without runs.

The lefty struck out six in Dominican Republic’s fourth consecutive win, with one game away from a Series sweep, credited mostly to its pitchers.

Ron,

Any team from the Winter league would have been tooooo much for that level of competition where the Aussies won. Compare oranges to oranges.
