Santo Domingo.-  Caribbean Baseball Confederation president Juan Francisco Puello on Tuesday announced it will evaluate Cuba's request to take part as a guest in the 2013 Caribbean Series slated for Hermosillo, Mexico.

He said the situation could be clarified in the coming days in a meeting with the presidents of the Confederation’s four leagues. "It's something that we’ll discuss at length from now on, we’ll see what  would be most convenient for the Caribbean Series, establish some economic issues among other things."

Quoted by listin.com.do, Puello said even if Cuba is allowed to compete it wouldn’t change the Series’ new format, hammered out in the recent meeting in Hermosillo. “It would involve five teams and then there would be a different one which would rest every day and so on."

Too long in coming.

Cuba, DR, PR, Mexico, Venezuela, Panama, Nicaragua and Colombia.

Two sets of 4 teams with the top two teams advancing to the knockout phase.

3 games, 1 and 1. So winner plays no more than 5 total games.

Cuban players, because of restrictions and such, have a difficult time offering their service to the US's major leagues. Some have made it there, many talented ones, have not.
This means that great players will remain in Cuba to play for their nation, while the best in DR will-- due to contractual agreements-- be restricted by their affiliated teams and not allowed to play in the Caribbean series.
The Cubans will have an unfair advantage and likely will win every series. That is, until the Castros' allow free agency for their players. Who knows when that will be.

Josean I dont have to I am one of them and so are many of my friends who came here to the US with nothing but their hopes and dreams and have built a successful future for them and their families, for you information out of the 125,000 marielitos the vast majority have done very well.

Your ignorance and lack of actual knowledge and blind devotion for the cuban regime doesnt allow you to see the reality.
