London.- Gabriel Mercedes, Dominican Republic’s last hope to a third Olympic medal, on Wednesday broke the ligaments in his right knee during his 58 kg category match of taekwondo, the Olympic delegation said quoted by the AP.

It said Mercedes, silver medalist in Beijing 2008, was injured and fell into his fight against the Yemeni Tameem al-Kubati.

Felix Sanchez won the gold in the 400 meter hurdles, while Luguelin Santos won the silver in the 400 meter dash.

What a shame, Gabriel really won the gold in Beijing, but because of the DR olympic committee members, that where sleeping at the wheel, and did not present an inquiry in time to the judges, a bad judging decision came to past and his gold medal was stolen from him.
