Santo Domingo.- It was enough to read just a few names on the Dominican team for the World Baseball Classic, WBC, for David Ortiz to send a message to skeptics: "And what do the people want?...A big gun."

On the phone from the Boston Red Sox Spring Training at Fort Myers, Florida, Ortiz mentioned a few members of the team on the CDN La Radio AM program.

"That team I want to have it here," said the designated hitter.

Ortiz said the WBC’s nature makes it a different championship, and requires a key element which in his view the local team has. "This game isn’t about names, it’s about who’s ready to play. These people are ready to play. Most of them played winter ball.”

So, is he ready to play for our team, or is he talking out of his butt?

How does hitting a ball require class?
Guts with helmets, armored gloves, etc.? If you want to see real guts, look at Aussie Rules Football!

Dread, the egg came first, and only people with undiagnosed personality disorders and a death wish, can participate in this crazy “game”.

I refer to a recent article in “psychology today”. And I quote:- “It has been empirically proven that most (male) Aussies, who delight in public displays of aggression, may have been exposed to multiple episodes of violent behavior as children. This stems from watching or participating in the “game” of rugby. It is an irreversible condition, and predisposes the brain for more cruelty, (or masochism), which is commonly arrested by their women’s (as adults), refusal to ‘give it up’. “- End quote.

This is what’s scientifically referred to as “pussy whipped”. Which describes your typical Foster’s beer drinker with, generally-speaking, no holes or cracks, to speak of. ..Tragic!

Ron,
1) Correct, the egg did come first, if you are referring to domestic chickens.
2) Rugby is not Australian Rules Football. Rugby originated in the UK. If it makes you aggressive, then New Zealanders must be more aggressive than Australians since Rugby is their main code of football.
