Santo Domingo.- Heading into the 2014 FIBA World Cup, the Dominican Republic will compete in Group C, along with the United States, Finland, Ukraine, New Zealand, and Turkey.

Team USA is the favorite to win their first five games as well as the gold for the fourth straight major international tournament. After winning gold in London 2012, they automatically qualified for the world cup in Spain and avoided having to participate in the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship last September.

After the 2013 Continental Championships, Team USA is still on the top of the FIBA rankings, Turkey is ranked seventh and the Dominican Republic climbed to the 26th.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup will take place in Spain from 30 August to 14 September 2014.

They could probably beat Finland and New Zealand, but the other teams are tough. I wish them good luck though.
