Nayarit, Mexico.- Dominican Republic’s first goal in Centrobasket Championship 2014 has been reached as the locals topped Jamaica 73 to 68 on Monday, and classify for the Olympics’ FIBA Americas, in Rio de Janeiro next year.

The Dominican team’s win came at the semifinals of the event, and have gone undefeated in three games,

Group A’s supremacy will be decided at 7:30pm today against Cuba, also undefeated thus far.

The imposing Dominican Eloy Vargas led the offense with 23 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks; Víctor Liz scored 19, with 5 steals, while Edward Santana shot 17 with 7 rebounds.

who said we invest more in sports than you do?

Jamaica is not a basketball nation. if we beat you in football, i would not even mention it.

where we excel, we excel. there is no nation on earth which dominates a sport the way we dominate track. none! when you beat us in a sprint event, then you can talk to me.
