Ankara.– The Dominican Republic edged hosts Turkey 3-2 (23-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-9) for their first victory of the year in Group I of the FIVB World Grand Prix on Friday, but lost to Germany in a five-set thriller (25-19, 19-25, 22-25, 25-16, 16-14) on Saturday.

Germany won its 200th set in the World Grand Prix and became the third European and ninth overall to win at least 200 sets in the competition. The      Dominicans gave the Germans a scare when they tied the score 14-all in the fifth set, Germany prevailed 16-14 from an attack and a block.
