Dominican Winter Baseball kicks off tonight

Santo Domingo.- DominicanRepublic´s Winter Baseball Season, now in its 65th year, goes intofull swing Thursday night with the capital´s two teams playing the seasonopener in Quisqueya stadium.

The start of theseason also sheds light on the advantage in the box office of the teams from bigcities; Santo Domingo and Santiago, over those from small ones, La Romana, SanPedro and San Francisco.

Nonetheless the teamowners have shown willingness to spend what it takes to sign the best players, especiallythose allowed to play by the respective Major League Baseball clubs.
