SANTO DOMINGO.- The incarceration of Rolando Antonio Santos on charges of cyber crimes sets a precedent in the Dominican Republic, where judge Jose A. Vargas ordered the accused be held in the jail at Najayo (south).

The judge ruled in favor of a motion by Assistant DA Ilda Santana Amézquita. He exposed that the Public Ministry, jointly with the High-tech Crimes Investigation Department began a probe on a Banco de Reservas complaint of fraudulent transactions in two accounts through their Internet banking service.

The investigation, in coordination with the bank, identified the accounts where the money withdrawn had been deposited, Euri Marte and Camilo Guerrero.

Santana said in a undated missive sent to the bank, Guerrero affirms have been instructed by an individual known as Rolando to open an savings account.

One had good lawyers to keep them out of jail .. this one did not .. look at OJ .. it cost him $12 million for his freedom .. and that's a conservative estimate .. not sure if he can buy himself out of this mess .. even in that coin-operated justice system ..

This was easy because these people were not associated with ruthless drug gangs. The drug gangs get their product and money back.

Dominican authorities are spineless, hubris, ignorant, uneducated, macho, PoS.

Easy with Dominican authorities .. they are underfunded and undertrained .. have huge problems to tackle .. they are poorly paid and yet we expect so much of them .. the pay needs to go up .. better training required .. external help is fine as long as it does not infringe on our dignity ..

ghoulish is obviously not from the island. the police department should be disbanded. they the ones that commit most of the violent crimes in this country. not to mention the associations between the police goverment officials etc.. with the drug dealers. they dont care about training or funds unless if it´s going straight to their pockets. please wake Ghoulish
