Santo Domingo.- The company Esfera Verde, of the Vicini Group, was recently presented in the Construexpo 2009 construction fair, where it exhibited the different products for the sector, especially Styrofoam panels for lighter walls and slabs.

It also introduced new gray foam panels, which are also used in the construction of walls in apartments, offices, among others.

thank you poponlaburra: words of wisdom. styrofoam has got to be the most foul result of technology and research. it is not biodegradeable, and is just a pestilent pollutant. away with it, i say.

Thank you dread.
The Styrofoam makers must have a surplus of it that they couldn't sell in developed countries, so they are re-inventing the use to get rid of their garbage by selling to poor countries.

Yes, expanded polystyrene is NOT biodegradeable. I still find containers on the beach that were left & buried years ago. The general public is not educted enough to make good or sound decisions in this matter. Therefore, the Vicini Group makes money in this venture.

Everyone in the DR knows that styrofoam is not biodegradeable. Esfera Verde is the name of the company that makes the panels. Didn't say the panels are "green" or biodegradeable. Poponlaburra: The Viccini Group is DOMINICAN.

Trujillo informs

Everyone in the DR knows that styrofoam is not biodegradeable.

how many people in the DR, or most other countries, for that matter, know what bio-degradeable means?

What is not clear if the Vecini group imports and distributes the product or do they manufacture?
And though true it is not bio-degradeable, however, it is energy efficient to help conserve energy and as such provides some protection to the environment. So therefore, it is a question that must be analyze to determine which of the two is the greater good.
