MILEAGE READING WAS 39 mpg (not 29) ON TEST RUN

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Industry and Commerce Ministry’s Mining Agency presented on Wednesday a novel system which executives of the Sustainable Power Corporation affirm would save at least 25% percent on fuel used by all internal combustion engines, which its designer affirms also cleans up exhaust emission by 100%.

Mining director Octavio Lopez presented the president of the Texas-based Sustainable Power Corporation, John Rivera, who described the technical aspects of the system which injects hydrogen in the fuel-air mix to optimize the volume of the fuel in the combustion process and the resulting cleaner exhaust gases.

He said his system in now under the patent process in the United States, but noted that despite that it’s not new technology, his device uses software he designed and is wiling to prove it by installing it in any engine during a free trial period. “I’m not someone who came to Dominican Republic and as asks for several million dollars to begin operating, I can guarantee savings of 25% conservatively and I don’t require one cent up front.”

Lopez said his Agency signed a Letter of Intent with Rivera’s company, because fuel is among the highest costs for the country’s mining operations, which must also tackle the carbon emissions from power plants and heavy equipment.

To be sure, Rivera admits that the system isn’t cost effective for many small vehicles and power plants, and that it cannot be installed in car engines manufactured before 1999 because many didn’t come equipped with a computer. He did however, reiterate that it can be used by any engine, although older ones may require the installation of an additional computer.

Technical demostration

After the press conference in the hotel El Embajador, Rivera, accompanied by Lopez and Industry and Commerce Ministry Energy assistant Doroteo Rodriguez led about a dozen reporters out to the parking lot to show a Ford F-150 pickup truck with a diesel engine of about 454 cubic inches (over 7,000 cc), and explain the function of the apparatus, basically a computer and the generator, which extracts hydrogen from water. The big vehicle’s exhaust pipe gave no hint that it was burning diesel.

Rivera then took DT reporters on a cruise of about 40 miles per hour on the Mirador Park, where the onboard computer showed a dramatic jump in efficiency from around 9 miles per gallon without the system turned on, to around 39 miles per gallon once he switched over.  The computer’s figures coincided with the consumption of one gallon per hour. “It’s a simple hose which injects the hydrogen in the intake (manifold) and the computer simultaneously controls the amount of fuel going to the engine.”

Although the executive didn’t specify the cost to install the system in typical 4-cylinder vehicle, an expert consulted by DT affirmed that it may be in the “range” of US$2,500.

Sustainable Power issues a statement

"It was a pleasure to meet with you today and to review your article posted on www.dominicantoday.com. There are some minor corrections to the article which I thought you might want to make":

"1. John Rivera is the founder, but is no longer the President of Sustainable Power Corp. I am the President and CEO.

2. The system reduces emissions by "over 90%"

3. Mr. Rivera did not advise he would install the system in any engine for free, but rather advised that the system WORKS in any engine and that when installed after we make an agreement, there would generally be no out of pocket cost to the partner. Savings on fuel would be effectively shared.

4. The Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Mines is with Sustainable Power Corp. and not signed with John Rivera (the founder).

5. Mr. Rivera advised that the system is PARTICULARLY effective on power plants, and will be employed initially principally on electric generators. It is not particularly effective now on smaller vehicles (until a marketing mechanism is put into place so the company can participate in the savings).

6. The pickup truck which was demonstrated is a Ford F350 one ton duelly truck and not a Ford F150, and has an 8.4 litre turbo charged engine.

7. There are no experts on this system who could provide a price quote as this is the first time demonstrated. We have not priced the system for use on vehicles at this time."M. Richard Cutler

My GOD, another magic box ! Lets buy it, even though it cannot be sold in the USA. If claims were verifiable, dont you think the US investment community would be all over this ? Octavio Lopez, you look foolish when your name is associated with articles like this.

Oh My God!!!!

People are idiots.

There are so many glaring errors stated regarding the product it is beyond belief.

Let us start with the basic one.

Hydrogen costs 6 times more than gasoline on a per-mile basis.
So how the hell will injecting hydrogen into an engine increase fuel efficiency 25%?

BTW Every car built since the late 80's has electronic fuel inject which requires a computer.

Actually mythbusters did a bit on this hydrogen generator.

Actually their silly figures are 9 mpg to 29 mpg which is 200% increase.

The hydrogen is actaully Brown´s gas (HHO). You can see this on YouTube

It is much easier to create than pure Hydrogen

They all laughed at Christopher Columbus
When he said the world was round
They all laughed when Edison recorded sound
They all laughed at Wilbur and his brother
When they said that man could fly

They told Marconi
Wireless was a phony
It's the same old cry
Said I was reaching for the moon
But oh, you came through
Now they'll have to change their tune
But ho, ho, ho!
Who's got the last laugh now?

WOW!

They had a Lawyer issue some corrections and still they didn't address the fact that the system they are promoting is BOGUS!!!!!!!

A couple of questions Mr. Cutler.

The fact that your system has been proven to not work what have you done to correct it?

Did you use your own computer and program to show the mileage gains during your demonstration?

Where will you be getting the Hydrogen?

Have you solved the problem with the cost and energy consumption associated with the production of Hydrogen?

If you have how, come you are not at a Rose Garden with the President of the United States and the heads of the auto Manufacturers announcing your ground breaking discovery?

I am familiar with this "Process"

Cars can run on Hydrogen. It cost $$$ to convert but who cares.

The production of Hydrogen is very expensive and uses large amounts of energy.

Basically it cost the equivelant of 6 gallons of gasoline to produce 1.

Rivera is using electrolysis (splitting water with electricity from the alternator) to generate hydrogen and oxygen. He then send the hydrogen to the inlet manifold where the hydrogen is mixed with air and then oxidizes in the piston generating water again. I expect accelerated corrosion (embrittlement or acid leaching) inside the engine resulting from the byproduct generation by having more hydrogen (reducing gas) in the fuel than that provided by the gasoline or diesel fuel (engine's alloy is optimized for gasoline/air mixtures).

And we all know what happens when you are running low in fuel and the computer keeps (computer and/or valves failed) sending hydrogen to the engine and then the spark plug ignites => EXPLOSION!

letroudeballeGeneroso,

electrolysis? ya don't say? Do you know of any other way to make hydrogen from water? BTW the process is simple....just expensive.

No water is created in the combustion chamber. It is too hot. The water is created downstream in the exhaust. Most modern exhaust systems are made of stainless steel so water is not a problem.

OMG You mean you can have explosions in the engine?
Where.......hmmmmmmmm The COMBUSTION CHAMBER?
Internal COMBUSTION engines derive their power from EXPLOSIONS. That is why they use the term COMBUSTION.
Only someone with no knowledge of even basic automotive mechanics would be scared by having explosions in their engine.

Hydrogen is an excellent fuel to run engines except for one thing.......IT COSTS WAY TOO MUCH!

As soon as someone comes up with a cheap and efficient way of producing hydrogen then we can talk.

IN A COUNTRY LITTERED WITH THE BY-PRODUCT OF ITS CATTLE....WOULD NOT RECOVERING METHANE BE A MORE REASONABLE FLAMMABLE GAS?

I used recovered methane to power my stove, refrigerator and an old Jeep military vehicle to run around the property for many years.

The product came from a composting toilet I bought back in the '60s for about $300. After that I simply shoveled the dried fodder into the garden... the tomatoes were spectacular.
Sounds like another boondoggle to me.

The technology is really quite simple, and there is no need to purchase Hydrogen. It is created by low voltage (12/24 VDC) running through ordinary water, with metallic plates (SS for the best efficiency) or wires (less desirable) in the H2O. The voltage cause a reaction through the plates/water interface, separating the water into Browns Gas, or HHO. The hydrogen is drawn through the intake with manifold vacuum, and enters the combustion chamber as charged atmospheric air. As hydrogen is highly flammable (can you say Hindenberg) the increase in combustion (thermal yield) effects an obvious and sometimes substantial increase in fuel economy, because the air itself is charged with flammable gas, rather than relying on the fuel to burn the air. Engines are air pumps, folks, not fuel burners. It is simple, effective and inexpensive. No big deal,. people. Take a pill, for God's sakes.
