Santo Domingo.– The expansion and modernization of networks and equipment, as well as in technological innovations, has costed Codetel US$2.1 billion from 2000 until now.
According to Oscar Peña, Codetel and Claro CEO, the investment, the largest in the sector in the country, allows the company to stay in the lead in the telecommunications sector and strengthen its national and international prestige and the costumers confidence.
"Codetel is the pioneer and the only company with a 3.5G mobile communication network in the Dominican Republic,which will permit it to offer a national service of quality and coverage," said Peña, and added the company reaffirmed its commitment to keep the highest standards of quality.

Codetel has been a forign owned company since the 40's. Most of the investment they are talking about 2000 to current was done while they were Verizon, not American Mobil. American Mobil did not take over the company until Jan 2007, when the sale was finalized by INDOTEL.
