Santo Domingo.– Nearly 2.9 million Dominicans, 28% of the total population, have Internet access, 15 years after the service was first introduced in the country, according to the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (INDOTEL).
"Internet is
developing quickly in the Dominican Republic, with a growth rate of between 67% and 85%
from year to year,"
Indotel director Jose Rafael Vargas stated.
According to Vargas, the 28% figure does not take into account the over 1,000 Internet centers around the country.
