Santo Domingo.- The Government launched on Monday a unified window platform to expedite the to investments in the country, in a National Palace ceremony headed by attended president Danilo Medina.

With officials and business leaders present, the Decree 626-12 was read via which Medina declares the promotion and increase of investments a national interest, in addition to the improvement of the business climate.

Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo said the platform is a physical and virtual system which will allow the president himself and investors to monitor the streamlined procedures, and the first stage will the physical. “An operation which takes one year or two can be done in six months in a first step and this term will be four months starting January.”

He said the first part will function in person and via telephone, in the Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD), whereas the second stage is to be implemented in unified window with the virtual, which Montalvo affirms should be operational within one year.

The Decree stipulates that the sectors that can be channeled through the unified window will be agriculture, agribusiness, infrastructure, footwear, film and media, in addition to energy, industry information and manufacturing technology, mining technology, telecommunications, textiles and tourism.

A presidential commission was named oversee the window, coordinated by the Presidency’s Chief of Staff and of the ministries of Public Administration, Public Works, Tourism, and of the Environment, CEI-RD, the Presidency’s Office for Information and Communication Technology and the president of the Dominican Municipalities Federation.
