Santo Domingo.- The company Nikay Bio-Procesos exported as much as eight tons of exotic natural honeys last year, with flavors of lemon, aloe, coconut, ginger, almond, orange and passion fruit, which revealed Dominican Republic’s potential as a net exporter of agricultural biotechnology products.

The company started operations in 2005, shipping products to Puerto Rico, New York, Miami and Haiti, and has plans for Colombia, Taiwan and Japan, among other Asian countries.

It exported more than 10 containers of products worth RD$11.0 million monthly in 2010, growing to RD$27.0 million in 2011.

Nikay manufactures its products using biotechnological processes created by Dominican scientists.

"created by Dominican scientists"!?!?!?!? I call BS.
Nikay is a Chinese company, the processes used are intensively dependent on chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides.
This is only the mantle of colonialism shifted from domination by US to domination by Chinese interests. Good luck with that.
