Santo Domingo.- The French telecom Orange Dominicana said Wednesday it suspended the marketing and advertising of the 4G-LTE plan in compliance with Dominican Republic’s regulator Indotel Resolution 113-12, which orders the temporary halt of its fourth generation technology platform offer.

Orange said it’ll comply with the regulator’s order because it respects Dominican law, but affirms the resolution works against the development of new technologies and significant foreign investment that offers the best communication to its customers.

"We confirm that our offer of fourth generation technology is the first available for Dominicans, which corresponds to the standards of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and supported by the transparency which characterizes us," said the telecom in a press release.

I would have to disagree with elBuscoon, on his comment. I stay out in Bonita, in Las Terrenas and I have 7meg Internet 95% of the time, which is 3.5G. My only gripe with Orange is they need to get real when they come to download limits 15Gb is a joke in 2012 and not having the ability to purchase more download capacity is beyond a joke, I know of at least 5 people from Europe who would love to relocate to DR but refuse to do so because of the broadband situation think of the $'s that the country is missing out on because of the inadequate broadband infrastructure

Paddy, I'm so happy for you. at least one person is getting what they pay for. I work all over the island and have yet found an area where I get full 3G all of the time. Now I have not been to your area yet, so i might get my moneys worth when im there.

ALL cell companies in the DR are a ripoff.
