Santo Domingo.- The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) on Thursday signed a technical cooperation agreement on Thursday, called fundamental to the Dominican and the region’s civil aviation .
IDAC director Alejandro Herrera said via the agreement a group of Dominican technical inspectors will receive the training necessary to authorize airline operations in the country.
"It’s a fundamental course for everything regarding the performance by the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute, it has to do with the transcendental work of air traffic controllers," Herrera said.
For his part, FAA International Affairs Office official Daniel Castro affirmed that the IDAC is one of the most prestigious agencies in the region, in aviation safety and operational training for its staff.
He added that the country is a regional "leader" given IDAC’s interest in the training of its technical staff.
