Punta Cana.- former United States president Bill Clinton and his wife, the New York senator and Democratic party presidential pre-candidate Hillary Clinton arrive in the country today to spend their Easter vacation at the Punta Cana Resort and Club.

The couple will fly into Punta Cana international airport together with their daughter Chelsea and close family friends the Greenspans. They will be met by Dominican designer Oscar de la Renta, Punta Cana group president Frank Rainieri, and his wife Haydee.

Senator Clinton’s first visit to the country was in 1999 when her husband was still in the White House. On this occasion she visited the Dominican Republic for a rest before returning to Washington, after a national tour as U.S. first lady.

In 2000 the couple visited for the first time, and since then they have made annual visits to Punta Cana Resort and Club, which has become one of their favorite relaxing vacation spots.

The Clintons and their friends will be staying at Oscar de la Renta’s house at the resort.

Now, this man was a good President despite some shortcomings. He did the USA a great service and improve the jobs, national budget and a peace time economy expansion. My question is: What kind of legacy will the current RD leaders leave for their youth to remember them by? I ask this question as I visit poor Santiago barrios like Simon Bolivar and Los Platanitos (Ensanche Caonabo) and see youth be bully by gangs and pushed with drugs from gangs of career criminals who terrorize Dominicans!

And good luck in the next U.S. elections, I Hope you will be the first woman American President; a woman who in the worst times knew how to keep her family together, may also bring union renewal to that great nation. Because a great nation is not the one which submits oppresses but one which is followed, and admired.

Welcome to The RD, Clintons. Please tour all that the country is today; the poverty, the need, the overwhelming corruption...and DO MORE to change it! I hope you do become President, Mrs Rodham-Clinton, and work to fix Haiti and our relationship with them. As an American Ex-Pat, you have my vote. Please don't be like so many other turistas & only take advantage of the RD without recognizing the common folk. We have more to offer than tourism and cheap fabric plants. Obviously your readers and commentors are naive in their assumption that Mrs. C would be a good president, after all, her husband was horrible. Since she is building a huge new home there, we hope you enjoy her and keep her happy there, not here. Your poorer residents might start applying for a job at the house.

Anybody have pictures of that new mansion they are building on the beach next to Oscar de la Renta's? I hear it's huge. One has to wonder just who is paying for it. I suppose we taxpayers are the lucky ones.

hillary clinton is taking the good people of the DR for a ride...she will try and buy your legal and illegal votes with her visits...when all she really wants is to see her friends there.
We do not take kindly to a woman who let herself be used as a doormat by her husband....but, you might be different there, don't know for sure...but, if you like her...you must respect what she does...and being a doormat is not a good woman..
her husband left the presidency in a recession...or didn't you kn
