Santo Domingo.- There is now a new option for English speakers in Santo Domingo! Starting this Sunday, June 22, 2008 and continuing every Sunday thereafter, a special Christian meeting will be held in English at the “Salon del Reino de los Testigos de Jehová”, #33 Avenida Francia on the corner of Galvan in the Gascue sector of Santo Domingo.
Beginning promptly at 7:30 PM the congregated English speakers will listen to a 30 minute Bible lecture. This week’s title is “Showing Appreciation for All that is Sacred” by Reiner Thompson from the United States. The lecture is followed by an open congregational study of a specific Bible theme. Afterwards all are encouraged to associate with one another. There is never a “passing of the plate” for donations that is common in many churches today. Each week will feature a different lecture theme by various English speakers from the Dominican Republic, United States, Canada and elsewhere.
At the same location there is also an English Study group every Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM for one hour where they are currently considering the book of Revelation (or Apocalypse) every week until the end of July. Starting in August, an in-depth study of the 12 so-called “Minor Prophets”, Amos to Zephaniah, will begin and continue every week for about 6 months.
In addition to the new English meetings, there are established Spanish, Creole, and American Sign Language (ASL) meetings as well as a new Chinese meeting available, all at various times and locations throughout the capital. Free Personal Bible Studies are also offered and can be arranged before or after any meeting or by calling the number below.
All who are interested in learning more about the Bible are cordially invited to attend this first of a continuing series of English Public Lectures here in the Dominican Republic this Sunday, June 22, 2008 at 7:30PM and the Bible Study group, Wednesdays at 7:00PM. Bring your personal copy of the Bible if you have one! Doors open 20 minutes before all meetings and early arrival is recommended since all meetings start on time and seating is limited.

What is so wonderful about meetings of Jehovah' s Witnesses is, that if you want to learn progressively what the Bible actually teaches, there is no better place to go! In addition, the Bible study arrangement is at absolutely at no cost what so ever and at whatever time is convenient to you. It will answer such questions as: What does the Bible really teach, how can we cope with life's anxieties, how can we make our family life happier, what happens when we die, will we ever see our loved ones again and how can we be sure that God will fulfill his promises for the future? And a question that many have asked: If God cares about us then why does he allow wickedness?... Many have asked that question and the Bible gives a very clear and concise answer. Don't hesitate to go along. Jesus invites all and anyone who is 'toiling and loaded down to come and be refreshed' at his father, Jehovah's table. Enjoy.

LadyLu: I don't agree that the Watchtower in Brooklyn NY, can tell me what the scriptures mean, when the Lord Jesus said that men are ignorant of the scriptures; for if they were to search them they would know Him and the Father. The Holy Spirit reveals the true meaning of the scriptures when one prays for guidance and wisdom. Read Joel 2:28, 29.
II Timothy2:15 states: "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." The New World Translation (JW) states: "Do your utmost to present yourself approved to God, a workman with nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of the truth aright."
I am glad that these services ares available in the Capital, great. Yet, I am wary that doctrines of men may be taught, rather than doctrines of God. As Pilate once asked: What is Truth? I believe the Witnesses have some truth, but they overlook whole chapters of the Bible such as Revelation 14- The Three Angels' Message.

Thank you very much for your response to my post. There are a couple of things necessary to say in reply and those are what the Bible itself encourages at (1) 1Thessalonians 5:21 - and (2) - I John 4:1. - (1) - 'Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine.' -(2)- 'Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world'. - Sometimes it can can take many months or years even for a person to come to an accurate knowledge of the Scriptures. But the means for doing so are available to all and Jehovah's Witnesses will patiently help anyone who wishes to embark on such an important and urgent endeavor, after all, all our very lives are at stake and the issue of sovereignty has to be settled once and for all time. In writing that, the words of Proverbs 2: 20-22 come to mind and also the question: Whose worship will God accept? The Bible will answer.

With all due respect, the Lord is able to teach in one day what would take a "teacher of scripture", a lifetime. Remember the Ethiopian Eunuch and Philip? He was baptized the same day! Men's means and pratices are not required for the Spirit of God to impart wisdom to one of His children. Many become vain and conceited in believing (there lies a great deception) they have the key to understand something that the Father offers freely, and in simple means. It's so easy. Paul spoke of the foolishness of preaching. Because what man considers important, before God is 'really' foolishness.

Thank you for your responses to my post(s). Jehovah the God of truth and his son Jesus are the ones who will be making the final judgments in all cases and lives. It is certainly not for me to comment on this or that case or this or that problem that any Jehovah's Witnesses had or have. I can only reiterate what was said in a previous post in view of Proverbs 2:20-22, it was only referred to not quoted. It reads: 'The purpose is that you may walk in the way of good people and that the paths of the righteous ones you may keep. For the upright are the ones that will reside in the earth and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it.' There is no ambiguity in that statement. It is what Jehovah's Witnesses want all to know. In addition, borrowed time is what all are living on and the issue of which worship has Gods' approval is pivotal to survival.

As as side point.. The account of the Ethiopian eunuch which was referred to in Mr Lemberts' post. (Acts 8:26-39). The eunuch, as notes the Bible account, was not knowledgeable enough to know about the scripture he was reading and readily acknowledged humbly, that he needed help to do so. Jehovah's Christian Witnesses all over the earth as has already been stated here, help people at no cost, to understand the Scriptures, if they wish to have help. Anyone is welcome to go to the Kingdom Halls of Jehovah's Witnesses where the Holy Bible, God's personal letter to all mankind, is expounded. All are encouraged to 'make sure of all things' as has also already been stated. "And this good news of the Kingdom (God's) will be preached in all the inhabited earth, for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come". (Matthew 24:14) This good news is available for everyone and anyone of truly good heart in a very troubled, hateful and disturbed world. There is a future for all.

I don't critize there being the need for instruction; My concern is for the 'corporate' pyramid mentality of many pseudoreligious organizations such as yours. Ephesians 5:6-10 reads--Let no man deceive YOU with empty words, for because of the aforesaid things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partakers with them; for YOU were once darkness, but YOU are now light in connection with [the] Lord. Go on walking as children of light, for the fruitage of the light consists of every sort of goodness and righteousness and truth. Keep on making sure of what is acceptable to the Lord;
The Lord has His Children in many denominations; He will separate the sheep from the goats.

Hello Maranatha, thank you for your response to my post. I have only one more thing to say at this time in response and to your words " The Lord has His Children in many denominations". Matthew 7: 13-14 reads : "Go in through the narrow gate, because broad and spacious is the road leading of into destruction, and many are the ones going through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life and few are the ones finding it." If therefore as Jesus states there are two distinct roads, we need to identify who is on each road, and define each road. This is where our discerning which worship is acceptable to God, by looking into the Bible, comes in. The Bible is the only means available to verify this point and Jehovah's Witnesses assist anyone as said, and at no cost, to do just that; the decision then lies with the person concerned as to what to do about what they have learned. Religion is soon to be destroyed at Gods command we therefore want to be on His side.

...I left that last post a bit in the air for you Maranatha and just wanted to add a supporting text or two for you to see that Gods destroying religion is sure to happen. There is not enough room here to write the texts out from the Scriptures, so I will cite them for you and you can look them up in your own time. First is Revelation 18: 4-8 (here encouragement is given to get out of religion that is not approved by god) and the second is Rev 17:15 - 18 (here it is clearly stated that God will give the command that all religion be destroyed, it is his very own thought).

I really respect the opinions of all of you, but I really see some misguidance. Ladylu brought out a really interesting point. the scripture did speak of two roads, but the cramp road does not represent a few religions. It represents only "1". When Jehovah had his chosen people he only had "1" the Israelites they were not to mix other nation's festivities, customs, or religions with theirs. They were not to serve any other god but JEHOVAH. When they did, Jehovah punished them and they were to repent. Today it's the same.
