Santo Domingo.– The Dominican-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce presents Jobim Sinfonico at the National Theater on 23 September to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bossa Nova.
The program will include the presentation of Maestro Luiz Gustavo Petri. Paulo Jobim, son of legendary Antonio Carlos Jobim, will also attend.
Bossa nova, a style of Brazilian music popularized by Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes and Joao Gilberto, evolved from samba but is more complex harmonically and is less percussive.

where are the alleged jazz gurus to say the honky Stan Getz sucked.....Like they slandered Paquito the Cubano ...what a bunch of phonies

i have no idea where you read it that Stan Getz sucked. i know you are backhandedly referring to me, so i will address you. i have more stan getz albums than the average guy, and certainly more than you. i have a copy of the 1964 album, which is red and white, then the blue and white JAZZ SAMBA ENCORE, plus numerous others. i have the DVD of his last performance, with the late Carlos Vega on drums, and Eduardo Del Barrio on keyboards. Getz was one of my favorite sax players, and i used to run into him many times in white plains, as he lived in Goshen, and came to a record shop i frequented. you cannot compare Getz with Paquito d Rivera, who is a mediocre and annoying loser.
