Santo Domingo. - Dominican Republic’s Tourism Ministry will ask the U.S. authorities the return a 15th Century bell and other historical relics which the country loaned to Chicago, but were never returned, the entity’ chief announced today.
Francisco Javier Garcia said the historical pieces which belong to La Vega’s (central) Concepcion Cathedral were loaned to Chicago to commemorate the 4th Centennial of the Discovery of America,.
The Tourism Minister made the announcement in a statement during a visit to La Vega where he pledged to demand the return the centennial bell to the basilica of that city, "from the state of Chicago, or the Government of the United States or whomever."

Maybe the first thing the “smart” PDLista has to learn is that Chicago is not a STATE, it is a city in the state of Illinois.

You realize Chicago is Obamalandia. Those artifacts are lost, never to be found..... The DR should realize that in Obama's old stomping grounds (Chicago), leaders are about as dirty as any Banana Republic's Politicos. We, as Americans, are embarrased when Chicago & Politics are mentioned in the same breath. Javier Garcia, you may want to look under the White House Christmas Tree. Find the heavy package with Melia's name on it, you will find your Bell.

Welcome to the US of A where Democrats like Obama tell you exactly what you want to hear and deliver nothing at all or exactly the opposit. I hope you get your bell back DR, but dought it will ever happen with a city like Chicago and a president like Obama. Maybe if you offared to pay for shipping they would give it to you. Keep an eye on ebay.com. If all else fails you could try the press and give Obama a black eye in New York's Dominican press, that might get them motivated to send it back.
From: United States, I believe that Chillaxin was right!!! a commie but right
times are rough in the U.S., the bell has already been sold to pay off debt owed to China.

lol glo,
who dropped the ball and forgot to get this item back??? smells fishy to me
From: United States
I am surprise the US media such as CNN, FOX, MNBC and others have not heard of the dispute. It would make such a good news worthy story that two countries are bickering about the return of historical relics and artifacts, but now after some years Chicago kind of got use to keeping that stuff around and now conveniently suffers from selective memory loss and as such prefers not to give it back. What are you talking about? What bell? Bell? Do you mean Alexander Graham? I don't know nothun about no sticking bell?
From: Dominican Republic, No Spin Zone
there is no bickering .....The DR is not getting the bell back ....So forget about it you are beat .....Rahm Emmanuel uses it to summon people to eat at his BBQs ...."..Come And Get It "

There are no conclusive sources for either Seville or Santo Domingo and as such I say that Columbus is buried on Dominican soil.

"Italian Admiral"
This is news to me I never knew Cristóbal Colón sailed for the Italian Navy I alwyas thought he sailed for the Spanish Crown. So wouldn't that make him a Spanish Admiral?
Cristóbal Colón
Occupation:
Maritime explorer for the Crown of Castile
Title:
Admiral of the Ocean Sea; Viceroy and Governor of the Indies
Not that I would want to accuse you of a little revisionist history.
