Viña del Mar, Chile.-  The more than 300 customs agents from Latin America and the Caribbean present, the International Association of Professional Customs Agents of the Americas (Asapra) held its General Assembly in Viña del Mar, Chile, where a tribute was rendered to Dominican Republic’s late Customs director Miguel Cocco.

The Assembly also coincided with the organization’s 40th anniversary, whose primary target was to seek solutions the problems that sector faces amid the global crisis, and to show the world that the Customs function is as effective as ever.

As part of Asapra’s 40 years a posthumous tribute was rendered to Cocco, with a minute of silence for his unconditional support of his country’s customs agents and his contribution to the sector.

More than 30 members of the Dominican Customs Agents Association formed the Dominican delegation headed by its president Cesar A. Jose Mercedes.
