Santo Domingo.- The actresses of Dominican origin Zoe Saldaña and Michelle Rodriguez are in Los Angeles for the premier of the year’s most awaited film, Avatar.
Its release is slated for today Friday in the United States, and a first poll of ticket offices indicates it will earn at least 75 million dollars in its first weekend across country.
Without serious competition, the film has already secured the number one spot in U.S. cinemas.

How do you conclude to this. Can you name a movie with better Computer generated graphics than Avatar in the last 10 years because i can't find one. Have you ever done Any CGI in your life to know what's good or bad. I can tell you one thing from the trailer alone i can say we better keep our eyes open for Avatar 2,3 in the near future.

Belly,
Anthony doesn't need to have any knowledge about any topic in order to remit a purely inane response. That's what uniformed people who wish not to be ignored do, they relate the first unfiltered echo that comes into their hollowed awareness. There is no sense of reality in his responses, unless, the subject is about guns and motorsports, inwhich he is without a doubt extremely keen. Too bad this is not Guns & Motorsports Today were his contributions would be valuable instead of irrelevant.

I just think is funny to see AnthonyC attack this movie and down playing it by using the movie's strongest point which is the CGI. I'm not an expert but I am taking classes in this field now. If people understood how much work goes into this CGI project and how much talent you have to have to just to come up with a fair looking graphic then you will with no doubt love master pieces like Avatar Movie because that is simply what it is. A master piece of CGI and is pushing new limits that we have not seen before. I bet if you ask people here how much percent is real and how much is not most would probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the real life scenes and the CGI part. I could understand if he didn't like the story or maybe the type of movie but the CGI is by far the best in the last 10 years.

The story is being reported to mention Zoe Saldana & Michelle Rodriguez and their dominican origin. NOTHING to do with the anger that appears on the comments above. We as dominicans should feel proud of Zoe & Michelle.

I have seen Avatar. I can name dozens of movies that have better CGI. The Star-Trek(With the Dominican Zoe) movie and the Star-Wars prequels were all better.
Avatar is James Cameron's self indulgent, Liberal Guilt rant.

CGI in the last Star Trek was good because they went out of their way to use as little as possible, and even to re-introduce lens glare and other artifacts of real cinematography into the shots where CGI was a must.
Looking forward to AVATAR, and glad to see Dominicans making a mark in Hollywood. Cameron is one helluva of storyteller.

Cronos, the spirit here is not to hail or denote the CGI, script, ect... the object here is to denote Dominican actresses or actors. period!
To the eyes of some of the poeple who come here in a regular basis, making mockery, criticize anything Dominican is a way of life. Ask what happened to DR1.
Is there anything Dominican in this or that???, it most suck monkey ass through a garden hose.

Indeed, to be a critic of the film, is not to be a critic of the two ladies of who are of Dominican origins. it is short sighted and to be suffering of some sort of mental illness if you think that people here are simply going after the film due to the fact that there are two Dominicanas that continually makes us proud, boy, talk about helicopter hovering above platanos-pelaos' house.
PLATANOS, when you see them call the CIA.
Finally, i can not believe this, but i totally agree with anthonyc and his assessment of the film.
Cameron's goal is to bring us LIBERALS together under one tent to defend our environment against all the neo-cons and global warming deniers out there.
Belly, I'll surprise if this film does well in Texas if they only knew the message behind it. As you know, Texas has one of the largest deniers and invest one of the greatest amount of money trying to disprove global warming.
Drill, Drill Baby, that is Texans' favorite song.

I saw this film directed by fellow Canadian {who cares}James Cameron ......It was a Turkey with or without the Dominicans
