"....a Hispanic born composer in the Caribe, specifically in the island of Haiti."

Interesting, how did he put it "...hispanic born...specifically in...Haiti."

Sounds a little ambiguous to me, exactly what does that mean? Is he Haitian born of Dominican parents or the other way around? Why go around the bush, what is the point, this is not like trying to recruit people for Amway products. Is the writer of this article Owen West bunching everyone together and calling the whole Island Haiti and for some reason is trying to down play the singer Dominican nationality?

It's possible that Mr West does not know the difference. Believe it nor not, I still meet people every now and then that don't know the difference between Haiti and DR. In fact one time a guy not only did not know about our Island but also asked if the Dominican Republic was some kind of a political party. Go figure...... Well then again, if you think about it, there is such a thing as a Dominican Republican.

Guillermore ,
Ayiti,Quiskeya Bohio. the ancient names of the whole island ( Hispaniola)by the Taino Indians
Forgot your history ?
The Haitians took the first name and the Dominicans took the second
The name Ayiti has been removed from your history book by Trujillo
But you know something Gillremone, i wish that Haitians would have chosen BOHIO at least it means shoes.
Haitiens in French has bad connatation: Hair (hate) and siens(own) to Hate his own.

Cross666 Please spare any insults
That was just a joke.
By the way the 6 millions That J C Duvalier stole from Haiti coffers will be returned to Haiti for some well needed developping projects.
Uh !Whose going to manage this money.

etiennc- You are absolutely right, these were the names used for the Island centuries ago, I guess Mr Owen is still reading outdated history books. I have also seen other variations Such as San Domingue or Saint-Domingue, Kiskeya, Spanish ayiti.

Winston Paulino should be considered for a Nobel peace prize. It's unfortunate that while Winston is promoting peace, others are stooping so low and indulging in hatred and petty non-sense low-life childish stupidity.

Haitian or Dominican? So what? The outside world usually refers to the entire island as Haiti. Maybe it's for historical reason.

Winston Paulino's song transcends all matter of race and nationality. The man is way ahead of the mind of most Dominicans living in DR. This song will put him on the international stage and will do a lot of good for DR image. Winston Paulino refuses to entrap himself into a narrow and shortsighted thinking.

Citizen of T'world-What in the "world" are you talking about? "Winston should be considered for a Nobel peace prize" Do you know the meaning of a "nobel Prize? Come on man, you're taking this whole thing out of contex. I think they were talking about you when DT stated that readers were in an uproar about Paulino. He has a nice cute little song, perfect for these tumultous times and will appeal to the masses in political distress. His voice reminds me of one of the Fania All star Salsa singers, but hardly does he come even close to a nomination for a nobel prize. Remember Mr Citizen, no matter how sincere and noble is Mr Paulino''s reason for writing this song, the main purpose is motivated by profit and the procurement of fame. Don't you lose sight of that fact. Additionally, Mr Paulino is not and will not be the first and the only singer who writes in favor of peace. During the 70's there was a world wide campaign for "Peace on Earth." And do you remember, "We are the children."
