SANTO DOMINGO. - President Leonel Fernandez and the actor Vin Diesel last night hosted the showing of the short film “Los Bandoleros,” shot entirely in Dominican Republic.

The short, written and directed by Diesel, was presented last night together with the feature film Fast and Furious in the Caribbean,” starring Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, also present in the event, staged in the Mauricio Báez Cultural Center.

Hundreds of people turned out for the crowded event, mostly young students, and even the pitcher Pedro Martinez.

“Los Bandoleros,” to be in theaters as of July, is a production of Universal Studios, One Race Films and Funglode, through its Global Multimedia Institute (IGM). He said he’s working in the 5th “Hannibal” film together with the actor Anthony Hopkins.

Diesel, always smiling and in a not very fluid Spanish, told reporters that when he’s in the country he likes to eat rice, beans and meat, and thanked the Dominican President and the people for the attention he always gets when he visits the country.
