Santo Domingo.– "La Soga" (The Rope), a film about the personal journey of a brave man who risks everything to find justice, is a visceral and gripping story of redemption that lays bare brutality and corruption that actor and director Manny Perez will take to the Toronto Film Festival in September.
The film, which reminds of "City of God"
and "Amores Perros", was shot in the streets of Washington Heights,
Santiago de los Caballeros and the gorgeous surroundings of Baitoa, where Perez was born.
In addition to Perez, also taking part in "La Soga" are the ex Miss Universe Denise Quiñones, Juan Fernandez, Alfonso Rodriguez, Paul Calderon and Celines Toribio.
Perez is a veteran in Hollywood, and one of his latest roles in
"Bella", won him the Alma prize in 2008. His talent can also be seen in
"El Cantante", "Illegal Tender", "Pride & Glory", "Nothing Like The
Holidays", "Yellow", "Amexicano" and "Where God Left His Shoes", among
others.
