Santo Domingo.- The entertainment site community.terra.com reports that Shakira married longtime main squeeze Antonio De la Rúa on a secluded beach in the country this weekend, citing “rumors.”

It cites as their source people close to the Colombian singer and the son of Argentina’s ex president Fernando De la Rúa.

“Here's the icing on the wedding cake: the alleged groom's father had canceled various political engagements to tend to "a very important family matter" in Santo Domingo,” the Web site says.

Shakira and De la Rua have been vacationing in the Dominican Republic since 2003, when the singer reportedly bought property in one of the country’s posh eastern beach resorts.
