NEW YORK.- The famous writer and Dominican born novelist Junot Diaz, winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 2007, revealed that the coveted award hasn’t stifled his creativity for his next works, and on the contrary, his awarded novel was his great pressure during 11 years.

Diaz, raised in New York, reached world fame after publishing "The brief and wonderful life of Oscar Wao," which looks at the travails of immigrant families in the United States, a sort of novel he himself lived through. "To have won the Pulitzer, hasn’t meant pressure on my creative process, not more pressure than I was under when it took me 11 years to finish that novel."

The distinguished writer, whose works also include the series of short stories "Drown," last year revealed he would work on a story in connection with the Quirino Paulino case, the country’s largest ever drug bust, "because in the Dominican Republic there are many quirinitos.”
