Santo Domingo.- An airline jet which took off from Miami International Airport on Saturday toward Dominican Republic had a failure in the air conditioning conduit, panicking the passengers and forcing it’s return to the terminal 35 minutes later.

Jose Polanco, one of the passengers of American Airlines flight 1711, said they had taken off at 10:30 Saturday morning, but a panel in the air conditioned system burst and was freezing the passengers.  “This forced the crew to evacuate passengers from the plane’s center and transfer them to the back, and handed out blankets for the cold. Thank God no one fainted or injured, just a big scare.”

Polanco added that most of the fliers were able to arrive in Santo Domingo on Sunday morning. “We had a good scare, we thought we were going to freeze in the airplane.”
