Santo Domingo.– The director of the National Symphony Orchestra, acclaimed Jose Antonio Molina, will conduct the orchestra for a concert of Antonin Dvorak music at the Carlos Piantini hall of Santo Domingo's National Theater, Wednesday 24 March, 8:30 pm.

With guest cellist Ives Dharamraj, the orchestra will perform Dvorak's Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in B minor, Op. 104, Symphony No. 7 in D minor of 1885, Op. 70, among other pieces.

Dvorak was born on September 8, 1841 in the Bohemian village of Nelahozeves, near Prague (then part of Bohemia in the Austrian Empire, now in the Czech Republic), where he spent most of his life.

He wrote in a variety of forms: his nine symphonies generally stick to classical models that Beethoven would have recognised, but he also worked in the newly developed symphonic poem form and the influence of Richard Wagner is apparent in some works.

The National Symphony is something to be proud of. The only problem is that it suffers from most publicly sponsored symphonies.

They live in the past and refuse to promote new music. Music that could actually make money and allow the symphony to privatize and flourish.

El teatro nacional should promote the national symphony orchestra by giving entrada to people who like this type of events.we have to create a line of people that could go regular to the teatro nacional to watch the event.
