Punta Espada Golf Course

Santo Domingo.- Punta Espada Golf Course, the first designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus in the Dominican Republic, will be officially inaugurated November 8 by the "Bear" himself, who will arrive in the country the day before.

According to Sam Logan, golf director at Cap Cana, Punta Espada will be exceptional with 8 holes directly on the ocean and ocean views from every putting green.

"Punta Espada's unique story began before the greens and fairways were planned. Cap Cana gave Nicklaus his pick of land before all other real estate and plans were initiated," Logan said today at a press conference at El Embajador Hotel, in Santo Domingo.

Having designed 250 courses around the world -Punta Espada being his first in the Dominican Republic- Nicklaus' signature incorporates a perfect balance between nature and design.

The clubhouse, with its simplistic design implemented by the firm GVA Dominicana, combines with perfect harmony its entire layout; blending together the materials used, the surrounding spaces and Cap Cana's architecture.

The main building is comprised of different areas in which the Caribbean-infused style and elegance of the Cap Cana structures blend with a tropical ambience, offering a relaxing environment for golfers.

Additionally, the Punta Espada clubhouse contains a restaurant area with the capacity to accommodate up to 100 guests. Its decor, selected by internationally renowned interior designer Patricia Reid Baquero, features a mixture of dark woods, wicker furnishings and bright colors.

Now with Punta Espada, Cap Cana is the only location outside of the United States that has 3 Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses within a single complex.
