Santo Domingo.- American Airlines resumed its daily roundtrip flights from Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Florida to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (SDQ) on December 13, to be made with a Boeing 737-800, 148 seat aircraft.
"We continued seeing that the demand for service between Fort Lauderdale and Latin America and the Caribbean continues on the rise," said Rafael Sanchez, American Airlines chief director in the Dominican Republic.
"These new flights and more spacious airplanes will help give our clients the service they are looking for. Our objective is to continue contributing with the development of the Dominican Republic as a great tourist destination in the Caribbean basin," Sanchez said.
The schedules for the new and improved American flights from Fort Lauderdale in local time:
Flight # Route: Departs: Arrives:
717 FLL-SDQ 6:55 a.m. 10:35 a.m.
Flight # Route: Departs: Arrives:
718 SDQ-FLL 11:00 a.m. 12:35 p.m.

Note that it takes 1 hour and 35 minutes on flight #718. The duration on the inbound Flight # 717 is posted over 3 hours.
Now if the plane LEAVES the GATE at 6:55 AM it is 7:55 here. It then lands at 10:35AM here that is 2:40 not 3 plus hours. The return flight is 2:10. What you will see is the times will change once the US goes back onto daylight light savings as we do not observe daylight savings time here and once again will be the same time as Miami and New York.
Why the difference of 30 minutes between flight? that could be time sitting on taxiway waiting to take off. More planes leaving FLL than STI.
Lastly MIA to STI is about the same time as FLL, they also list that as a 2 hour return flight.
