Santo Domingo.– Las Arenas, a
25-story residential tower scheduled to break ground in the first
quarter of 2009, introduces a new eco-friendly architectural design to
Juan Dolio Beach in the Dominican Republic.
The impressive building
will be designed by Dominican architect, Jorge Mesa, and world-famous
Spanish landscaper, Artur Bossy, both highly-respected professionals
and leaders in their fields.
“The building’s ‘green’ design was inspired by the city’s natural
beauty and unique landscape and views,” says Mesa. “Since its
conception, Artur and I have worked hand in hand to deliver a truly
luxurious standard of living for both residents and visitors, while
maintaining the integrity of Juan Dolio Beach.”

What does eco-friendly architectural design mean - passive heating & cooling, water conservation/management etc? This is low hanging fruit and should be mandatory for all new construction.

The word "green" has become so easy to use... Or maybe they are refering to what the builders are going to make. I get it not "green" as in enviornmentally freindly, "green" as in wow look at all those dollars we made...

Nice advertisement....
From: Cuba, it is a secret the censors are looking for me
this could become a 25 story white elephant or green elephant if you prefer...They will need all the advertising they can get ....as the economy worsens the greenies count for less and less...maybe they can hire the wanker to be the doorman....but would he give up his tar paper shack in LT for this ?

How in earth does a 25 story monster on the edge of the sea qualify as eco-friendly????????

Another first for DR!
Green living is the future. Gold courses and other anti-green establishments are being closed down and a new generation of eco-friendly buildings is upon us, providing a real investment in a sustainable future!

Tall buildings use less land - leaving it for agriculture, wilderness etc. People can have facilities nearby - roads and car trips are less necessary. Public tranport can be efficient due to the concentration of people. The mass of the building and special glass etc. minimise air conditioning. Any people pollution e.g people smoking is carried far away. Sewerage can be efficienty treated. Surrounding parkland can be semi-natural and excellent habitat for a diversity of wildlife.
