Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Ministry of Tourism announced the Santo Domingo Merengue Festival is scheduled for July 24 to July 27.
According to the orginizers, the program includes Tono
Rosario, India Canela and Kinito Mendez on Thursday, 24 July; Fernando Villalona,
Kico el Presidente and Banda Gorda on Friday, 25 July; Pochy Familia y la Coco
Band, Querubanda and Eddy Herrera on Saturday, 26 July; and Sergio Vargas, Giovanny
Planco and El Torito on Sunday, 27 July.
There will be a simultaneous presentation of merengue bands in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico for the closing night. Milly Quezada, Hermanos Rosario Grupo Mania, El Prodigio, Joseph Fonseca and Juan Castillo will perform in San Juan.

I plan on attending this festival and it will be my first time in DR. I would like to hear from others who have been to it and comments/suggestions. For the record, I am an experienced traveler/journalist.
