CAP CANA, Dominican Republic. – After the resort group Cap Cana’s successful strategic reconstruction process, the Trump Organization reiterated its commitment to forge ahead with the development of the real estate tourism complex Trump at Cap Cana, said Trump Organization executive vice president Eric Trump.
“We’re very upbeat after learning that Cap Cana has been successful in its reorganization efforts. This means a great step forward in the project to make it one of the most spectacular destinations in the Caribbean,” he said.
Cap Cana board of directors president Ricardo Hazoury said he Trump Organization is one of the world’s most reputable developers, “and we’re very happy to continue on the road to create the new great destination in the world”.
The Trump Organization signed an agreement with Cap Cana in February, 2007, a strategic alliance combining the Trump group’s recognized experience and luxurious facilities, with one of the world’s most beautiful destinations.
This luxury project includes the impressive lots of the promontory, a golf course, lots and villas, a beach club, condo hotel and residences with an ocean view.

Mr. Trump is desperately trying to restructure a US1.25 billion dollar debt to avoid going into bankruptcy proceedings for the fourth time. Not exactly someone who can be counted on to garner financial support from any lending institutions. Mr. Trump only exists in name lending and promotional appearances, he doesn't even qualify for an auto-lease in his current economic situation.

devin, thank God you posted. there are so many people in this forum who believe that the guy is awash in money, and will make all things financial happen. the Trump name is just that;a name. he attaches his name to projects like this, like an endorsement. then he gets his cut. but, when the ship starts to go down, there is precious little he can do. in financial circles, he is almost radioactive, having been involved in several bankruptcy proceedings.

Republicans also have seized on millions that would be spent under the bill to expand family-planning services in the states.
Many conservatives are just getting upset that Barack Obama comes into office talking about change and his first big initiative is a massive $800 billion dollar pork barrel project,”

Don't mis-understand my post GC, you also have the right to use your non-partisan Democracy tools to express your point of view. My point is that offering dissent on any issue, no matter how unpopular should not be met by accusations of anti-patriotism or worse. Those same things happen in the US, where to use an example, people who were for ending the Iraqi war were vilified for their position as cowards, quitters and deemed Un-American. Dissent is the most valid proof of a free democracy and I didn't offer in anyway that you were mitigating censorship of any type, I would hope that you believe that I don't consider you in any such negative vein.

josean, you are the man. you always come up with these great articles. i wonder what rabid capitalist types like anthonyc say when they read this. the economy is the worst since 1929 (so, Jimmy Carter was not so bad, after all). it could last 10 years. the real estate market is in the tank. Bush is the worst president ever. and the stimulus package is the right idea. you think that all the guys in this board who admire him so much are going to turn on him for saying things the GOP does not like to hear?
From: United States
Perception, pork barrel projects are not the brainchildren of the president. they are usually expedients which are necessary to secure votes for certain bills. each senator wants something for his electoral district whenever his vote is needed. if there is no pork, they will simply vote against the bills to derail any ,movement. secondly, a stimulus package has to be put in place. the great debate is how the money should be spent. there can be no debate as to whether or not the banks will have to be recapitalised. should the money be directed towards consumer credit, for all out consumption, or should it be directed to infrastructure and public employment, to provide jobs? Obama wants the latter, and many agree with him. profligate credit is PART of the reason why the economy is in the ditch. there are numerous structural problems, and nobody has a clear prescription about the solution. but, there are many people on this board who criticise the efforts, without saying why.
From: United States
i am waiting patiently for someone to come up with a posting, explaining their disagreement with the expedient of a stimulus package. simply blowing it off, and expressing ridicule, is not productive. neither is discusing a few million in pork barrel projects. the bailout is going to end up somewhere around 1.7 to 2 TRILLION. a few million here and there for pet projects of senators does very little to change the picture.

You still think Cap Caca and The Donald can raise the cash? Well think again!
"A binge of new borrowing by Washington could effectively crowd out other borrowers by pushing interest rates higher over the long term, and would be especially painful for developing countries that rely on foreign capital.
At the same time, printing more dollars could undermine the value of both the dollar and the many currencies around the world pegged to it, stoking inflation when the global economy eventually begins to recover.
Ernesto Zedillo, the former president of Mexico who helped steer his country through a financial crisis in 1994, said developing countries were already finding it harder to raise capital without competing with increased U.S. borrowing.

Lest we believe these voodoo economists:
FDR’s Treasury secretary and close friend, Henry Morganthau, conceded this fact to Congressional Democrats in May 1939: “We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong … somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises … I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started … And an enormous debt to boot!”

While running against Reagan for the Presidential nomination in 1980, George Bush had derided Reaganomics as "voodoo economics".
The 28 years or the Republican economic orgy started by Regan have come home to roost as George senior predicted!
I agree with you 100%.
I also agree with GC, he makes a lot of sense in his post.
No matter how critical we are of both Mr. Trump's antics and the hustling Cap Cana boys, we want the project to succeed, for the good of the DR.
Trump does not know when to quit while he is ahead, like a typical gambler.
He is fascinated and addicted to the game not the end result, like a typical addictive personality.

Negative opinions Punta Cana continue growing and booming like
the hottest destination in the Caribbean.
Cap Cana was built by joint Dominican money and ingenuity and Haitian back breaking sweat!
Trump is going bankrupt for his 3rd or 4th time at his Atlantic City casino.

You guys are too much and you listen to Dread:)
And people a lot smarter thus Us Dopes here on DT (the web site not Donald Trump) got “intercoursed” by the Made-OFF!
So you guys who believe in The Donald, keep the KY handy!
He should just stick to being a TV figure, author and entertainer while he still has his pants on.
I imagine the collectors after him asking him for money, he probably uses his mane to hide beneath.
Trump has been caught in the 2008 financial crisis as sales for his Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago have been lagging and he failed to pay a $40m loan to Deutsche Bank in December.[20] Arguing that the crisis is an Act of God, he evoked a clause in the contract to not pay the loan and initiated a countersuit as he feels his image has been damaged.[20]"

They all get religion when the family jewels are in the economic vise!
Oh that's a genius scammer at work. I know now what to tell the credit card collectors besides to get on line.
Hey! I can't pay now, my liquidity crisis is an act of God and should be covered by insurance.
Just by reading some of the posters here at DT defending "The Donald" you could understand why even Charles Manson has a Fan Club!
"In the country of the blind, the one eye man is king"
At issue is a list of programs that Republicans say will do little to stimulate economic recovery, including $21 million to sod the National Mall, $50 million to fund the National Endowment of the Arts and $650 million for digital TV coupons. Republicans also have seized on millions that would be spent under the bill to expand family-planning services in the states.
Many conservatives are just getting upset that Barack Obama comes into office talking about change and his first big initiative is a massive $800 billion dollar pork barrel project,”
This is insane spending, Josean what do you say about this waste of money
spending $200 million to rehabilitate the National Mall would generate hundreds of jobs wow
give 100 people 50k and send them home and save the rest of the money
what a xxxxxx joke!
Trump might need a guy like you to polish his Yacht at Cap Cana!

2 pathetic, whiners and losers with lots of anger against Dominican Republic, regardless how
good news might be these 2 guys always have some mediocre comments full of frustation and
negativity.
As long as these opinions come from people with professional and neutral criteria, there is group of people with biased concerns and opinions against some economics related news in the DR, these
people are not Dominicans at al, Punta Cana is right now the # 1 revenue making place in the coun
try and regardless how many twisted opinions and baseless coments these lunatic guys might have
Punta Cana is the hottest destination in the Caribbean.
After all who knows better josean, dreadlocks and their gangs or the business people, corporations,
resort hotels developers and investors that are pouring money there.
Dread and Josean are very bright guys and believe it or not they love the DR just as much as you do. They have their ideologies about what is best for the country and if you don't agree with those ideologies, that is perfectly ok but you should disagree on the merits of their arguements and not on your perceptions of their Patriotism, for which you cannot quantify. Believe me that is not good for you, for them or for your beloved country, please consider that JR.
Usually on his white underwear!
He is not going to risk his money and he is a shameless moron who would not care if your Trump condo in Punta Cana is worth a third after the first default.
Escott, you're welcome to get a woody off his "name" but I would not buy into one of his projects now. Maybe two (2) years from now when it is a third of the price.
Very good comment!
This site appears to have disproportionate number of "pro anything the government does is good" clapping seals.
If it were 1776 they would be calling the American Revolutionaries whining, wankers, complaining terrorists and they would be licking King George's testes!
"Countries want independence, nations want liberation and the people want revolution-this has become the irresistible trend of history."
Guess which two countries signed off on that satement!

Ernesto Zedillo, the former president of Mexico who helped steer his country through a financial crisis in 1994, said developing countries were already finding it harder to raise capital without competing with increased U.S. borrowing.
