NEW YORK.- The famed impresario and businessman Felix Cabrera agrees that the Government should call for tenders to lease Jarabacoa’s (central) Hotel Montaña and noted he wasn’t given anything for free, affirming that he’s spending more than RD$200 million on the facility.

It’s the first time Cabrera confronts speculation arising after the Government leased the hotel to him, since he is, in his words the company which proved its interest in renting the property to reconvert it into a true attraction for tourists and for shows at the heart  the country’s “majestic” Central Mountain Range.

“I agree that the Government calls for tenders if the Dominican state considers that it must do so and I would participate in the same, but the person or the company who wins must reimburse the investment I’ve made in the hotel and which I can prove with invoices and checks for around $240 million Dominican pesos,” he said

Cabrera, native of Salcedo (north), has been in the United States for 30 years and owns several restaurants in New York, where he’s known as the “Show business Czar” form the big ticket events he frequently stages and promotes in different states and other countries.

“That investment is clear and well documented in the books. When I assumed the lease of the hotel it was a sort of slum with squatters who even made their physical needs, without water or sanitary conditions. What the State did, I had to demolish because the works were badly done.”

Hi guys! I just opened a new thread on the forum where I request you post a comment asking the DT administrators to grant a general amnesty to ALL the forum members that have been banned (i.e, CG, generoso, jacirez, trinitario, and all the others). If you think it's a good idea, please add your comments.

Thank you.

Rosa,

I got news for you: with the exception of Jacirez, I do believe all of those guys are back. Some not under original monikers, like GC, but back nevertheless. GC is a DT institution and should never be banned. In fact, he should be allow to resume GC moniker and given credit for all postings.

Generoso is a man of great integrity and intellect and, with Josean and Dr. Dreadlocks, should be considered DT royalty and accorded commensurate respect and privileges. These are the individuals who started it all and who keep stories interesting; in fact, more often than not, their commentaries are way more interesting than the story itself.

I do not always agree with their commentaries, but I will always respect them for being trailblazers, and honest and expressing their views openly and relevantly. You may disagree with them, but I am sure you enjoy their comments and partake in evolution of feature stories because of something any one of them may have stated.
