San Felipe fort, Puerto Plata.
PUERTO PLATA, Dominican Republic.- The Dominican Tourism Press Association demands that the authorities pay attention to the priorities of the tourism sector in Puerto Plata, as the destination has fallen 27 percent in its participation within the tourist market.
In the Journalistic Summit which gathered more than 50 reporters, the priorities listed included the reconstruction of the tourism port, the Nagua-Puerto Plata highway, and the Historical Center, among other initiatives.
In the encounter conducted in the Ocean World Adventure Park, in Cofresí, the journalists pledged "to spur the interest of the media and journalists in providing follow-up to the activities of public and private institutions in this region to have an attractive tourism offer and reflect this sector’s development with professionalism."
The journalists say all the social sectors have gathered into a great movement to seek a solution to the community’s problem and also demand that the municipal government join the actions to spur tourism.
The journalists also request a stronger complementary offer with creative projects such as the historical events and personages exclusive to Puerto Plata.

The all inclusive hotels are mostly overaged upholstered sewers and should be torn down and started over

27 percent, Blutarsky. sounds closer to the 35% i predicted, and quite a long way from the 10% that you speculated

dread you are in POP and it is down 35 or 65 or whatever DR is down less than 10 in the headcount what it is it you dont understand .....or is this your wishful thinking again
From: United States
i still await the release which shows that figure. and, headcount, or footfall, does not exlain anything. other fators, such as length of stay, and amount spent per visitor, are far more important in the calculus. but, as usual, you do not need facts to back up assertions. you are massa, and, if you say so, it must be right

dread stop being so down on yourself
From: United States
no, Blutarsky, i am down on what i see around me. and i am down because some people find it acceptable. blessed are the meek, they say. which, translated into english, means that the victims should accept their lot in peace, because they are really better off than the oppressor

No wonder the North Coast suffers. Empty promises from Leonel on the North Coast Road for as long as he has been in office. My car with 30kilometers on it has gone through 6 tires in one year because of having to RUN THE GAUNTLET with my car 2x a month going from Cabrera to Sosua on a road that would be condemmed in any civilized country.
Who cares what the drop in the count is. The North Coast has been totally disregarded by this government. Guess all the money went into his legacy of a metro which goes on one street for a couple of miles to the demise of the rest of the country.

hey, Blutarsky, you are in no position to suggest that someone like myself is out to pick people´s pockets. just look at history and it will show you who the real thieves have been. the ones who stole the current usa from the indigenous people . and canada. and the west indies. and africa. and south america. and the philipines. and southeast asia. and so on, and so on, and so on. none of those thieves looked like me, but more like you. so, on that subject....

the cueros should have a designated area. No one wants to take their kids to the beach and see nasty cueros trying to sell their body...

This is why we must always remain cognizant of law on unintended consequences.
This is what happens when everyone clamors for more and more development, sometimes even more than area could support. It seems to me we were more interested in quantity over quality and balance. We've overbuilt and now the law of supply and demand must prevail. Get used to low prices and vacancies!
Puerto Plata and Cabarete used to be nice sleepy towns full of charm. We have prostituted them with excessive resorts and they have lost their charm. We shall now pay the consequences.

glomy on the back of Puetrto Plata and a strong back it was the DR entered mainstream tourism established an identity and fought its way ahead in a very competitive industry" Thank You Puerto Plata ."...the DR must play its next cards differently in an ever changing market and cater to a more specialized more discerning clientele ....a large investment and quality control and the highest ecological standards must be rigidly adhered to ....The DR must set the standard it will be its own marketing plan " The Highest Eco Standards in the Caribbean "
