ORLANDO, Fla., PRNewswire.- Hard Rock International and Palace Resorts today announced an agreement to bring the world's first "ultimate all-inclusive" Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Slated to be re-branded in Spring 2010, the 1800-room Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana will combine the distinctive atmosphere and unparalleled guest experience of the Hard Rock brand together with the five-star Moon Palace Resort all-inclusive experience.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana's expansive 121-acre property rests on Macao Beach, one of the most beautiful, palm tree-lined beaches in the Caribbean that overlooks perfectly clear blue waters on the easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic. The property will combine Hard Rock's signature "Rock Star" suites with Moon Palace Resort's signature all-inclusive luxury accommodations, including double Jacuzzis and double showers. The property will also feature an extensive collection of Hard Rock's authentic music memorabilia, highlighting both international and local artists, as well as incorporating diverse music genres throughout.
"We're eager to bring the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino brand to the Dominican Republic, and we look forward to establishing this property as a premier vacation and gaming destination in the Caribbean," said Hamish Dodds, president and CEO, Hard Rock International. "Our collaboration with Palace Resorts and their track record of creating the best all-inclusive resorts in the Americas, we are confident this project will be a success."
"We are very excited to develop the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana," adds Roberto Chapur, President of Palace Resorts, owners of Moon Palace. "Hard Rock has brought excitement to many destinations throughout the world and we are thrilled that the brand has chosen the Dominican Republic for its next project. We look forward to working with Hard Rock to create the most exciting hotel and casino concept in the Caribbean."
"Punta Cana is a world-class location and one of the Caribbean's top travel destinations, and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana is a perfect complement to the region," said Dominican Republic Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia. "I am confident that Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana will have a significant economic impact on our country's growing tourism."
Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos are ideally situated in destinations with unique character and appeal, and cater to the evolving and distinctive needs of today's savvy traveler, who seeks a reprieve from traditional, predictable properties. Hard Rock properties offer stylish and contemporary design, unparalleled service and the thread that unites them all - music.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana will feature one of the largest casinos in the Caribbean with more than 48,000 square feet of gaming space. The casino plans to offer a high-limit poker room, a VIP lounge and a Race and Sports Book, in addition to 457 slots and 40 tables, where guests can try their hand at traditional Las Vegas-style gaming, including Baccarat, Black Jack, Craps and Roulette.
"As one of the world's most successful gaming operators, we look forward to bringing the excitement of U.S.-style gaming and our industry expertise to the Dominican Republic," said Jim Allen, Chairman, Seminole Hard Rock Entertainment. "Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana will quickly become the premier gaming destination in the Carribean."
The property will be fully equipped to handle the largest events, from full-sized rock 'n' roll performances, to small, intimate occasions. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana will feature more than 65,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. For those looking to celebrate a rockin' romance, the hotel will have numerous eye-catching locations throughout the resort, including three floating wedding pavilions.
Guests will be able to enjoy 11 expansive pools, four swim-up bars, a dedicated kids pool and a lazy river. The 15,000 square-foot Body Rock fitness center, the Xtreme Center's rock climbing wall, two tennis courts, mini-golf, billiards, ping pong and various other table games will keep even the most active guests entertained. Hard Rock's smallest guests will also have the benefit of a dedicated Kids Club offering daily activities and childcare services. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana's guests will have access to an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course spread over 155 acres with 7,200 yards of amazing golf.
Retail outlets, including Hard Rock's signature Rock Shop, a 1,200-seat amphitheater and the Caribbean's most expansive spa, will round out the vacation experience. Hard Rock's signature "Rock Spa" is an incredible 60,000 square-foot facility with 48 spa suites, including 11 total indoor and outdoor couples' suites and two Golden VIP Suites, and one of the world's most complete hydrotherapy circuits. Additional services include a Beauty Salon with kids' salon services and a wedding suite.

Great News ! I do hope that Hard Rock has budgeted funds for a new potable water plant (desalination?) and a new power plant to ensure this property has the required utilities. Without these the project has no hope.

Hey Juango. Punta Cana has it's own power plant they do not use CDEE so that part of negativity is out of the question. same as Las Terrenas

Hey WalterPolo. Yes it may be a beach with a wall that will also produce a significant amount of jobs for those needed ones including maybe some of your friends or family. so stop the socialism propaganda.

Bernies, you are correct. CPEM is the private power in the region. Unfortunately, no negativity implied, as you state. They just don't have the excess capacity of MWs for this mega project, and Rolando Bunster may not want to increase capacity at his Bavaro plant unless it is very lucrative or until he completes his SPM/Cogentrix NG conversion. Just my observation, just wishful thinking by others is not going to get any project done, as seen by recent history.

I am a Dominican that will always support any project that creates the amount of jobs like this one is going to create and also you got it love competition it brings the prices down for the consumers to affort it . Juango, once CPEM sees the amount of revenue that this business is going to create. they will output more power capacity for the supply demand since they know that they are going to get pay for it.

Blutarsky, it is you who cannot stand progress, when it pertains to the local dominicans. you believe that they should get scraps, while massa gets everything. as i said, time changes, but DNA cannot. time and legislation expunged slavery as a legal entity. as a mental one, it still lives on in the minds of some people, such as yourself.

vacanos, if you noticed, i stopped trading ideas with you a long time ago. you thought it was because i was in dire fear of the power of your intellect. it was not. it was because my dear departed mother always counselled me that the worst fate one could endure was an argument with a fool. arguing with you in the past confirmed the bromide. when you have attained the intellectual level of a tenth grader, maybe we can continue this conversation.

Dominican is losing it's identity as Americans/Europeans expand their slavery routes. If you want to see Miami or Morocco then go to Miami or Morocco . My friends travel 5x per year to Punta Cana from their frozen homeland. They are the type that never leaves the resort, so they no nothing about the country, but they call it little Italy. Home away from home, plus they informed me that the hotels are empty so why not build more. Sounds perfectly logical to me...
Tourism, drug trafficking and prostitution will not save Dominican from poverty, it must learn to be self efficient first. Once again, Education, more education and social awareness. Know your rights as a human being.
Stop suppressing the wonderful people of RD...

yowzerDR, brace yourself for the possibility of an onslaught from a guy called Blutarsky. people like you, who wish to see a prideful development of this country, wherein education and preparedness pave the way for sustainable development, are public enemy number one , to him. he would rather see the country develop along the lines to which you alluded: drug traffic, money laundering, unsustainable and unjust tourism, and prostitution. to him, that is the only way to keep you in your place, where you belong. serving massa, laundering his ill gotten gains, and providing him a steady stream of underaged girls, and sometimes ,boys. the more things change, the more they remain the same. DNA is immutable

Paying uneducated unskilled labor going wages is not slavery no matter what some of you people say. I know in your opinion these UNEDUCATED, UNCIVILIZED and UNSOCIAL should be the managers instead of the casual labor, maids, cooks and people supplying services but in the real world that "AIN'T gonna be happening" despite your silly wishes.

vacanos, i see that you are still in your expected state of protracted adolescence. take a look around you, and gauge your relative situation. most other posters have something educative and substantive to offer, uplifting the level of discourse. you, a person of woefully limited intellectual firepower, resorts to attempts at childish ad hominems , unworthy of a six year old. you need to grow up . this is the 21st century, and your conduct is reminiscent of someone who is mired in 18th century understandings. as i said, you are a man of abysmally low intelligence quotient, and your remarks reflect it. they also reflect your mental age, which is in the single digits

The plague of undercooked New York Strip Steaks - traditionally Dominicans cook their food but Americans love going to hospitals with digestive illnesses...... It's all down the horror stories you see of US abattoirs where animals force fed on grain who can hardly stand due to illness are put into the big machine...... and the products served up half cooked without any fibre to punters who get no exercise riding their SUV's to the location.Good business for US hospitals....

The Dominican Cricket Association was set up in Santo Domingo by a group of cricketing enthusiasts earlier this year, composed mainly of students from cricketing superpowers like India and Pakistan who are living in the Dominican Republic.
It is interesting to note, however, that cricket does have a much longer history in the Dominican Republic. Not surprisingly, the answer lies in the “Cocolo” connection – the migrants from the English-speaking Caribbean who started arriving in the Dominican Republic in the late 19th century, bringing over a love of cricket along with their johnnycakes and dumplings.
The game is still played in the campos and the barrios of the DR, although it mutated into an improvised version, known as “plaquita” – but its striking similarities to cricket are undeniable

Scanning thru the many posts, i see some mentioning this is good due to jobs created....well...the resort already exists, thus jobs are already there.

I need to say - anyone who wants to avoid the jerks in the casinos and all the trouble, crime, prostitution and everything else SHOULD GO TO HAWAII. Hawaii has voted NO to casinos because of ALL the problems that come with it and Hawaii wants to continue being known for its peace, tranquility and beauty. But - of course the DR needs to go the way of brutish tourists, drunks, pedophiles, thieves etc. Dominicans are selling their souls to the devil.
