SANTO DOMINGO. – The yearly exodus to the country’s interior the day before Christmas Eve began in earnest as passengers gathered in bus stops, where the drivers say the flow is lower than usual and blame it on the economic crisis.
The managers of the different terminals fir the South, Cibao and East regions contacted by news source diariolibre.com said this holiday period is the slowest in the last few years.
"We drivers aren’t going to have Christmas, because look how the lot is at 11 in the morning and only four buses have left for Salcedo. Four years ago or eight or 10 would have left. So the authorities please do something with the Dominican people," said Henry Almonte, driver of the route Capital- Salcedo.
Even so the drivers affirm that fares will not rise, regardless of the number of travelers who require the service.

Out of the subject matter, but....
Did you hear the latest about "OH"Blama's Winter White House" in Hawaii ?
At only $4,000.00 a night with top private chief feasting on gourmet food, $1,000.00 a hour Air Force One plus who knows how much in security and staff cost, meanwhile many in much COOLER climate like the unemployed, homeless etc..etc.. will be feasting on hand-outs.
AHHH ! nothing to good for our Prez. I could go on but I won't....I don't want to ruin your Christmas.
Oh by the way he'll just add the cost of his first Christmas Holiday extravagance to our STIMULUS TWO, at Tax payers expense, of course.

Good thing our Prez of the DR doesn't do stuff like that.....He's to busy handing out food baskets to our poor. OUR PREZ SETTING AN EXAMPLE this Holiday Season by giving.

Oh that's right - Leonel isn't ON the global arena - he's still trying to keep the lights on at home (even after receiving financial assistance from other nations).
Giving? How much does the U.S. give the DR every year?
And by the way - if you think the government is so bad in the U.S. - then you're either not FROM the DR or have forgotten where you came from and have truly become completely Americanized.

Comparing LF and Oh'Blama are like comparing mongos and pears or the rich and super rich.
Does LF have a private traveling chief to feast gourmet meals daily ?
Oh'Blama has traveled more in 11 months then Bush's 8 year term.
Oh'Blama has also topped his private party's and White House entertaining in the last 11 months then Bush's 8 year term.
You mean bankrupting the U.S, we went from approx. 1.5 trillion ending 1-20-09, from 1-21-09 threw 12-24-09 were at 12.5 trillion and counting. wait until National Health care, Stimulus 2, Social Security, cost of troop build up in Afghanistan 300 billion a year etc..etc..
LF's Global travels like France, Libyan, U.S and all over Latin America.
Only the Oh'Blama administration both Foreign and domestic, I have a problem with.

The number of services to LT has doubled in the last 4 years. Nearly all Dominicans plus plenty of hired buses and lorries loaded with people.
