BERLIN.- ‘Dominican Republic has it all’ is the slogan for the Tourism Ministry’s ad campaign unveiled yesterday to the German, Dominican and international press attending the word’s biggest fair, the ITB.
Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia also announced the incorporation of Dominican embassies and consulates to promote the country as a tourist destination, with the creation of a tourism attaché for that purpose.
He also announced the opening of new Tourism offices in Moscow, Stockholm and Prague and six new ones in the United States this year.
Accompanied by Dominican ambassador in Germany, Pedro Begés, Dominican Hotels and Restaurants Association president Haydee Kuret, and Germany Tourism Office director Petra Cruy, the official said Dominican tourism has everything for everybody.
He noted that Dominican Republic is among the countries with the most protected areas, which respects the environment and has created closeness between visitors and communities to get together.

I will resist the incredibly strong urge to sarcastically respond to this slogan. Let me just say that I hope we can rid ourselves, someday, of the negative parts of the all that we have.

totally with you juanb, that's the main reason I don't participate more on this forums, every subject ifs filled with negative comments even when the subject is suppose to inspire or has a positive content.
ideas with actions is what makes a difference.

Have it all? Love my country, but I'd take a little less to have a lot less of certain things. I can only imagine the waste that will go on at these offices....if they're run anything like the Counselates, oh boy, they better triple travel to make up for the cost...lol.
And to nyghost; I'm a little new to the forum thing here, but I think people vent and are frustrated with the whole status in DR and how things don't seem to be getting better and there doesn't appear to be apt leaders to take this country in a new direction of transparency and a sense of governing for the well-being of the country as opposed to governing to make sure you come out a multi-millionaire when you retire. People are frustrated by what's been allowed to happen with the drugs in DR, it'd be a joke except those that live in DR are keenly aware that when the fighting really starts to uproot the drug trade, the price is going to be incredibly high and we wonder who of us will pay for others' sins.

A very famous Dominican psychiatrist Antonio Zaglul wrote that basically Dominicans are non repentant complainers and have a critical cynical attitude that loves to make fun and ridicule others.
I find that very true, we have posters that love to go from article to article and just post cynical remarks intended to make fun and mock others.
Nothing constructive, just the same old dated immature remarks, like a little child complaining that they didn't get enough ice cream.
We are just so spoiled and used to the "give me" that can never seem to see the good in things.
Sad but true general character traits.

I'm frustrated as well like everyone else (by the way the drug issue is all over latin america as we all know).
Trying to sell the best product our country can offer to the european countries, is a good thing for all of us and a step in the right direction, we should at least give some support and recognition when something is done well.
More tourist = $$$

Wow what a novel idea "tourism attache", I guess that on the job training for Javier Garcia is really starting to show that it's paying off. And shame on you, that said you couldn't teach it to him with a tutor and evening classes.
Keep up the good work, it is always better late than never.
And congratulations to all his tutors too.

DR has it all we just need a couple El Jefe to clean up gov but without the bad stuff he did and we will be leading the caribbean in our direction. Who else can lead i don't see any other that has the size to lead. Cuba is as big but the 60 billions dollar dedt has put them back 60 yrs. I'm not taking anything from cubans they have done very good but in a bad way Fidel has ruin the country with his pride and most Cubans don't know it until the embargo gets of their back.

New Tourism offices shoudl be kept only in Europe. Forget USA, which only will be bringing problems and unnecessary compaints.
PuntaCanaMike, I do not know in which hole you're living in.
Why do you think most dominican women do not have as much cellulite as American and toher countries women? Sabor, ritmo y tambora.
Sabor, the food we consume make slender legs. even our fat women don't have cellulite.
Ritmo y tambora my friend "the culture of dancing" my dear for pure culturar enjoymnet" We do not have to kill our selves in the gym to get rid of those fat thights, just love our music. That bachata and Merngue keep everyone in shape.
Why do we need malls? Where is the uniqueness of malls. Small shopping center and small stores are more creative than the see and been seem of overprice malls.
I suggest you to go out and small the coffee.

generoso: great post re: dominican psychiatrist and his take.. could not agree more. it is good for all to hear it like it really is - of course there are so many in this forum that do only whine, complain and criticize all the time. it seems that for every positive action that takes place in dr - there are those on find fault.

We don't have snow, but if some smart investors build a snowdome like in Dubai, then "we'll have it all". How about a "casino city" or island to compete with Las Vegas, with a Formula 1 race track too. I can go on, my head is full of cool project ideas that I can't afford lol.
