Lakeland, Florida. - The president of the U.S. National Aviation Safety Foundation yesterday said that organization will jointly work with the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), so that its members, 199,000 American private pilots, who want to go to the Caribbean nation can do so precision and security.
Ernie Strange met with IDAC director Jose Tomas Perez, who headed the official Dominican delegation that attended an air fair, including a pavilion of the Tourism Ministry and Dominican aeronautical and airport agencies, which spoke with pilots from around the world.
In the meeting held in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) press hall also participated FAA Production Studies director Obie S. Young, who discussed information strategy with the Dominicans.
Strange congratulated the Dominican government for its initiative to promote private aviation, for its enviable location in the Caribbean and for its domestic and international airports that, in his view, are tools of tourism connectivity that take development and progress to the regions and become a dream for the vacations of pilots to the Caribbean, especially when harsh winters attack the North and in a destination where there’s security and incentives for private aviation.
The Dominican officials said the collaboration will begin immediately, because of an increased demand after president Leonel Fernandez instructed Dominican airports to not charge landing rights for private planes, to attract high consumption tourism of private airplanes that fly to the Caribbean, and to take advantage of the rebuilt domestic airports.

I have landed our private aircraft dozens of times in the DR and at Puerto Plata, Las Americas etc.
The only increased demand is by slimey corrupt colonels wanting propina's to expedite your service.
you a probably right. They would shoot you down and say that that you where a drug flight
In contrast PR is now starting to place and or increase fees due to the deficit in their PortsAuthority.
I know mgt. at POP has changed and a truly professional group is in charge now. But I have since chosen to no longer fly privately to the DR.
