It's quite far but worth the ride...

SANTO DOMINGO.- Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia Tuesday said investors want to build two tourism projects in Pedernales (southwest) at a cost of more than RD$8.5 billion, which would mark the start of the new resort region’s development.

The Tourism chief said the same development is expected for the Montecristi zone (northwest), where investors will soon announce projects and investment amounts in that region.

Regarding the southern region, Garcia reiterated that "the South’s hour has come" and talks and analyses between officials, executives and Barahona and Pedernales social organizations are in the final stage, which would start the development of the fourth Dominican tourism region. “All this has to do with the role the country plays as a propitious investment destination.”

Who are you trying to fool, Javier Garcia? No infrastructure (roads, airport, water or electric) in Perdenales or Montecristi araes, to sustain medium-large development. Stop the BS and start modernizing the existing projects and work on a more secure DR for your tourist and investors. The crime/corruption that exist in the DR (at all levels) does not shine favorably on your country. Fix that and they will come (even if Cuba opens up to US toursit). Stop thinking short term gains for your little group. Begin looking at the longer term future gains for your country and people.

Are the women hot in the far south? Don't know any one from that area. If the women are not hot the tourist will not come

btw, What has become of the Punta Perla Project (LF, Javier Garcia, HRM Prince Albert of Monaco and some Spaniard) which broke ground a few months back? What happened to the Bahia Principe Groupo Pinero's project in SPM/La Rom around the same time, also a big launch with LF and Javier Garcia? This crap is getting tiresome. Javier Garcia & LF, your credibility is nil ! No REAL/legit investment in the DR is viable, without 24-hour electricity & water, an educated employee pool to hire from, and security for your investors. You have none of these at present time.

only ones going to cash in big time are the government officials. Not a nice place Pedenales! Absolutley nothing going for it other than a big National Park with no infrastructure at all.

Aint gonna fly and it is an accident waiting to happen. At least Monti Christi is a decent town but Pedenales? Blah,
